Scottsdale Painting Workshop

I am teaching a 5 day Portrait and Figure painting Workshop in Scottsdale Arizona February 27th-March 2nd. The Scottsdale Artist’s School is one of the best places to take a workshop like this. There are plenty of close hotels, most less then a mile away, tons of great places to eat and drink and they have the best staff. I felt immediately at home and comfortable when I first traveled to Arizona to conducted a workshop.

The workshop will cover the Head and Figure. I will do a Portrait and a Figure Demo on the first and third day. The class will work from a model the rest of the time and I will do a lecture almost everyday. The lectures will cover the fundamentals of oil painting along with a couple secret painting tips here and there.

American Artist Painting Workshop Magazine

In conjunction with Weekend with the Masters June 22-26 in New York American Artist Magazine has released their Spring Issue of Workshop Magazine. This issue is JAM PACKED with great info. There are workshop demonstrations from Jeremy Lipking, Carolyn Anderson, and David Leffel , information on some of the top Ateliers in the country and an article written by Matthew Marchant on Workshop I gave on Monochromatic Figure Painting. Workshop at the Scottsdale Artist School

I am going to be teaching a 5 day workshop at the Scottsdale Artists’ School February 28th -March 4th 2011

This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of picture making and direct painting from life. We will discuss various starting techniques, as well as color studies, value schemes, and the preliminary work involved in starting a painting. The first part of the workshop will focus on the portrait, the second part will focus on the figure and setting up a scene.
